Not running my long run for the past few weeks had made me nervous if I could continue at my last long run distance of 6 miles.
I could blame the weather. I could blame my shoes. I could blame a lot of different things. However the only way to get the results I want in November is to put the effort in now.
So I went out to run tonight. Planning on running at least 6 miles but I really wanted to be at the half way mark. Half way as in running half the distance of a half marathon.
I am pleased to say that I pushed on through the heat and was able to run 7 miles. How did I beat the heat? I turned off the coaching on MapMyRun and decided I would run at whatever pace was comfortable. It happened to be about a 12 min mile. That is not real bad considering the heat. I also ran without a hat. It is better to run without one if you can deal with the sweat.
