"budding" life

The boys and I have had fun keeping an eye on a nest that's in my hanging basket. We first noticed it while we were having dinner one night. She was so busy creating her nest, her head bobbing in and out of the leaves. I take it down to water it, and we peek inside. We watched the egg count go up, and would watch the mommy fly in and out. Yesterday we peeked in and, this is what we saw:

Isn't it so ugly it's cute?? =) I'm not sure what kind of bird it is, since she's usually flying away when I see her. I'll have to pay closer attention.

  1. That's such a fun process to watch. We had a Robin's nest in one of our trees. She laid 3 eggs & we would check on them every few days. Then they all hatched and we had fun watching them grow, very quickly I might add. Then, one day we went out to check on them & the nest was a mess! Feathers all over the place including red mommy feathers. It was so sad!!! They where just to close to the ground I guess. ~Jenna
