We're Happy Campers! (Even in a Tornado!)

No, that's not a joke. We went camping a week ago with Dad and Mom Beebe at a very nice place in Ohio. Yeah, where all those tornados hit and several people were killed. Made for a very memorable weekend!! =O

Actually, we did have a great time for the first couple days. The campground is part of an inn and historic village, and was very nicely kept. We had a lot of fun swimming at the pool in the inn,
 visiting the historic village (amazingly authentic and well done!)
 and being together.
Our last night, the weather took a turn for the worse. We heard the tornado siren around 10:00, and headed to the basement of the inn. Within the hour we were back at the camper. Kids were bedded down, but adults were still awake and keeping an eye on the weather around 1:30 a.m. when we were summoned back to the inn because of impending hail and wind. We ended up sleeping there the whole night.
I just had to tease Otto that I knew he wanted to stay in a hotel, and he got his wish. In the basement. In the hallway. On the floor. Really - be careful what you wish for! =D But really, I was just thankful that we had a basement available - we could have been on the floor of a simple bathhouse.

It made for a very memorable trip! I would recommend the place - Sauder Village - but I don't know if I want to go back!! =}

One more picture for the "Sam McGee" lovers - this is an outdoor oven, but it looked so much like a you-know-what. Just couldn't resist.
We thank the Lord for His protection that night, and our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and whose lives were changed that night.
