Challenge Accepted!

What challenge you ask?

Well, back on January 2nd I registered for the Monumental Marathon coming up on November 2nd in Indianapolis, IN. I have had a real hard time getting motivated to start running this year. It was a nasty spring for me health wise. Seems I was always coughing and just not feeling right.

Earlier this week I received an email blast from the organizers announcing that a 91 year old was issuing a challenge to sedentary adults to run a half marathon in 5 months and blog about it. You can read about it here. The idea of blogging about training for a half marathon might just be the thing I need to keep motivated because I will need something to write about.

The question is, am I sedentary? Uh, just ask my sweetheart. She will confirm that during the winter months I hibernate and look similar to a couch potato. Look at the line of work I am in as well. In Technology a lot of my time is spent working on servers while sitting at my desk. What is not done via some sort of remote control technology I can usually accomplish by talking someone through how to do it who is already on location. Not a lot of motion going on there. Might takes some brain, but it does not take any muscles. So even though I ran the Monumental half-marathon last November (my first half), I have not had much exercise since. If that wasn't bad enough I have gained about twenty pounds since (weighing in at 248 lbs).

Are you laughing yet? Good! Because I am challenging you to run with me in the Indianapolis Monumental Half-Marathon. You can register for the Monumental Half-Marathon here.
