No, I am not talking about the 1946 Western movie retelling the tale of the Shoot-out at the OK Corral. I am talking about the sweet, juicy California clementine affectionately known as the "Christmas Orange" because they're available from mid-November through January.
One of the things we learned from the orphanage when we asked if she had any food allergies is that oranges did not agree with her. As we did not know the extent of whether it was the traditional orange or orange juice when had some experimenting to do. Just like Sammy and the milk... I was hoping she was over any food allergy to oranges. So... I started her off with a few pieces of a clementine about three weeks ago. Today, after she had a tuna fish sandwich, Spaghetti O's, Cheetos and a sippy cup of milk she ask for an orange. So, I peeled her a clementine and put the pieces on the table. Next thing I know the whole orange is gone and she wants down.
Now for me, orange juice is a little too acidic for my stomach unless I dilute 50/50 with water. But clementines I can handle. They are small, juicy and sweet and about the only orange I really enjoy eating. Plus, they are seedless and you can't go wrong with that. Enjoy!
I love Clementine's but you can't get them here:(
ReplyDeleteGlad she can eat them!
