Travel meeting

We had a meeting today with our coordinator. It was our "travel meeting I". "II" to precede our next trip. We got the info to apply for our visas. A bit of an intimidating process, really. Oh, the form itself wasn't so scary - passport number, birthplace, previous two employers not counting current one, parents' names, organizations we're a part of, or have ever been a member of (do they want us to admit we're part of a commie group??). It was kind of funny, but we were too nervous about getting all our "t's" crossed and "i's" dotted to laugh. "I respect how intimidated you make me feel." Poor Otto could hardly remember his last two employers, let alone find their addresses and manager's names! We got through it, however - had to print a couple more blanks off the web, but it's in the FedEX plane, being overnighted as I type, I'm sure. The really scary thing is, our passports went too! But I guess the passport is only good if the visa is with it anyway. We requested 48 hour turnover time, so I'm guessing we'll have them back early next week.

And may I rant on the total unfairness of charging extra fees just because our time to travel is soon? What's with that? Just because we weren't able to make plans in advance, we get to pay double?? The whole airplane ticket thing gets me too - isn't the seat the same, no matter when you book it?? It's a conspiracy!! And, since we're adopting, we're happy to fork over whatever they ask! =O

Okay, I'm okay now. Starting to get nervous, but doing okay so far. I'll probably start packing tomorrow, even though it seems a little early. Time to get back to checking things off my list!

That's so funny. I don't remember you saying that though. Maybe growing older has wiped that out??!!

  4. Yeah, I said that, supposedly. I don't remember saying it either! Thanks to my mom's little book of funny things her kids said, it's been preserved! =) (I have one for my kids too!) =O I said that when I found out we were going camping - see, it really does run in our blood, even as kids!
