Beet Horseradish(Tsviki)

During the Easter and Passover holidays, beet horseradish, or “tsviki”, is a traditional Russian/Ukrainian favorite. Made with ground beets, horseradish, sugar and spices, this traditional holiday favorite is the perfect condiment for for pork, ham, smoked sausage and turkey. A co-worker her at Goodwill canned some over the weekend and brought me some. So I'll let you know how it tastes after the holiday.

  1. Does this mean you're bringing it to the Beebe Easter? Hmmmm...Maybe not, there are to many of us. There wouldn't be any left for you guys :)

  2. That sounds yummy! Dale loves to plant beets (anything that grows actually:) and that would be another way to use them. Let me know how you like it!!

  3. Sorry I didn't get your comments published earlier - I wasn't aware that I needed to "okay" them! Lots to learn still. Otto will have to let you know what he thinks. Kenneth was okay with it - Sammy spit it out. =} I wasn't as brave as my kids - I didn't try it.

  4. Well, Since I was the one to enjoy it, I guess I'll let you know what it is like.

The beets are "candied" so they are sweet. That portion agrees with everyone. The horseradish is what comes as an after thought. Sweet soon turns to a little spicy. If you like sweet and a little spicy it is good, but you'll also have to like the flavor of beets and horseradish. It was very good on meatloaf.
